Game 4: 2004 Tigers defeat the 1967 Athletics 11-3… a drubbing from the 1st inning on. The Athletics are eliminated. Player of the game goes to DH Craig Monroe who went 3-5 at the plate, scoring 2 runs and 2 RBI’s, none more important than the 1st inning HR that ended up providing the game winning RBI.
Game 5: 2004 Tigers defeat the 1967 Indians 5-4. An extra inning affair with the Tigers completing a comeback victory. The Indians are eliminated. Player of the game goes to Alex Sanchez who hit a triple in the 10th inning and scored the winning run.
Game 6: 1986 Expos defeat the 2004 Tigers 4-2. The Tigers are eliminated. A very balanced game and difficult to assign player of the game honors. Ulitmately, Mitch Webster had a pretty good day at the plate, going 2-4 with one run scored and an RBI. Key was after the Tigers plated a HR in the top of the 1st to take the lead, Mitch hit his own HR in the bottom of the 1st.
